World Anaesthesia Day 2024 – Competition Results
World Anaesthesia Day on the 16 October highlights the importance of prioritising the well-being of our workforce in anaesthesiology, intensive care medicine and pain medicine.
This year, to help us celebrate World Anaesthesia Day, we ran a photograph and caption competition and the theme was:
“A wellness event that took place involving colleagues in our department or inter-department groups of colleagues”
We are delighted to announce our winner and top 2 finalists … a huge thank you to everyone who took part in this fun compeition.
In 3rd Place – “Trying & Failing to break the stereotype; we do love the outdoors ” – Dr Yasaman Besharatian – CUH – SAT Trainee

In 2nd Place – “Teamwork in the deep end” – Dr Catherine Nix on behalf of Dr Cathal MacDonncha – UHL – Consultants & Fellows
Description: Brought trainee group kayaking on the magnificent Shannon Estuary!
And finally, our winner in 1st Place – “Last place answers all the cannula calls” – Dr Yasaman Besharatian – CUH – SAT Trainee
Description: A departmental social outing in the pouring rain, go karting in Watergrasshill.
