CAI: New roles: Director of Technology Enhanced Learning and Clinical Lead for Simulation-based Training.

Posted by ceo@coa.ie

As the training of doctors becomes competency-based, the role of simulation and other forms of technology enhanced learning (TEL) have become even more important and widely adopted by Training Bodies.

The College of Anaesthesiologists in Ireland plans to enhance its TEL capacity and use of simulation-based training in the coming years. This will enable the College to offer quantifiably effective training, valid and reliable assessment and individualised feedback to trainees and to doctors maintaining professional competence.

Although TEL offers only one element of a first class training programme, it provides the capability to ensure that content is delivered according to the specific needs of a trainee. These new roles will serve to enable the College deliver a trainee-centred experience and a quantifiable positive effect on the quality of professional performance.
