Joint Faculty of Intensive Care Medicine of Ireland (JFICMI) Posts for the National Training Programme in Intensive Care Medicine July 2025: Applications now OPEN

Applications are sought for Clinical Fellow posts (Year 1 HST) & Advanced Clinical Fellow posts (Year 2 HST) in Intensive Care Medicine commencing July 2025:

  1. Applications for Clinical Fellow posts (Year 1 HST) will be accepted from:
  • Doctors taking a recognised year out-of-programme from their base specialty training in Ireland (Medicine/Surgery/Emergency Medicine/Anaesthesiology)
  • Doctors working in Ireland or overseas who are interested in joining ICM training and who have a minimum of 5 years of postgraduate clinical experience (in Medicine/Surgery/Anaesthesiology/Emergency Medicine)
  1. Applicants for Advanced Clinical Fellow posts (Year 2 HST) must:
  • By the commencement date of the year 2 post, (a) Have achieved an award of CSCST in their base speciality OR (b) have gained entry on to the Specialist Division of the Medical Council of Ireland in their base specialty OR (c) be eligible for entry on to the Specialist Division of the Medical Council of Ireland in their base speciality by the commencement date of the year 2 post.
  • Have completed 12 months of ICM training in JFICMI-accredited intensive care units (with at least 4 months of that training in the previous 2 years) and sat the FJFICMI Fellowship examination.

Notes:

The Intensive Care Medicine Training programme is a national training programme. Applicants completing the two-year specialist intensive care medicine training programme will spend a minimum of six months outside the Dublin region. The full list of JFICMI training hospitals can be found  here.
