ASPIRE Fellowship: Clinical Leadership and Medical Education

 

There is a new opportunity for doctors to undertake an ASPIRE Fellowship from July 2024.

The HSE NDTP Aspire (Post CSCST) Fellowship awards have resulted from the collaborative efforts of HSE’s Acute Hospitals’ Division, Mental Health Division, National Doctors Training and Planning (NDTP) and the Forum of Postgraduate Medical Training Bodies in Ireland. The Fellowships are funded by HSE NDTP, and they are recognised, managed, and awarded through the CAI.

The College of Anaesthesiologists of Ireland seeks to appoint an Aspire Fellow in Clinical Leadership & Medical Education on either a full time, or part time basis, commencing July 2024.

 

This role will include providing leadership in the management of change in Postgraduate Training in Anaesthesiology by:

  • supporting the implementation of the 2025-2030 new iteration of the e-Curriculum of Training

The role may have a clinical attachment up to 50% in an area that the doctor has a keen interest in a hospital of their choosing, subject to local agreement.

 

Responsibilities:

To collaborate with the Directors of Training, the Training Department, the CAI Training Committee, & Education Committee, and the CAI Examination Committee in the following activities:

  • Supporting the clinical sites (hospitals, departments, consultants, and trainees) in the development and implementation of the revised Curriculum including communication to all stakeholders.
  • Management and development of the assessment process including review of the current Workplace Based Assessments (WBAs), Logbook and Training Diary.
  • Engaging in research and evaluation and contributing to publishable outputs.
  • Provision of continuing professional development for consultants and trainees.

 

Experience and Qualifications:

Essential

  • Has achieved a CSCST in Anaesthesiology by July 2024 and within the last three years e.g. July 2022.
  • Must enrol in a Postgraduate medical education, teaching, learning and assessment qualification or clinical leadership course.
  • Submission of an up-to-date Curriculum Vitae by close of business on Wednesday 5th June 2024 to Training@coa.ie.
