Professional Competence

The College of Anaesthesiologists of Ireland (CAI) has established the Professional Competence Scheme (PCS), in Anaesthesiology, under the auspices of the Medical Council of Ireland, to facilitate enrolled registrants to fulfil the requirements of the Medical Practitioners Act 2007.

The Medical Council requirements run over the course of a Professional Competence Year, which begins on 1st May and ends on the 30th April in the following year.

Over the course of the 2024/2025 Professional Competence year you will need to:

  • 40 credits (in any category: external, internal, personal, research/teaching); and
  • One audit (clinical or practice (Quality Improvement)

 

All these activities must have been completed between 1st May 2024 and 30th April 2025 .
