The College of Anaesthesiologists of Ireland offer College examinations to doctors from all over the world, who are training to become anaesthetists. We deliver Membership and Fellowship examinations in anaesthesia. In addition we offer doctors exams in Pain Medicine and Intensive Care Medicine.
The College of Anaesthesiologists of Ireland is committed to supporting Trainees wellbeing throughout their working life. The College advises Trainees to monitor their physical and emotional wellbeing and to seek assistance early if they have any concerns or feel they are experiencing significant stress.

It is with great sadness that we learned that Brian Kavanagh passed away on Saturday June 15th, 2019. Brian Kavanagh graduated from University College Dublin in Ireland in 1985. He undertook basic specialist training in Internal Medicine in Dublin then went to the University of Toronto to complete anesthesia residency and fellowship training. He completed additional clinical and research fellowship training in Critical Care Medicine at Stanford. The National Institute of Academic Anaesthesia (NIAA) have announced that an award of up to EU 100K per annum jointly funded by the British Journal of Anaesthesia (BJA) and the College of Anaesthesiologists of Ireland (CAI) will be made available to support and stimulate collaboration between investigators in the Republic of Ireland with investigators in the UK (including N. Ireland) to conduct excellent research (laboratory, clinical or both) in anaesthesiology, critical care and/or pain medicine. The CAI recently selected Dr Aislinn Sherwin and Dr Mark Johnson as representatives at the Emerging Leaders Conference in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, in April. This is a satellite conference of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists Annual Scientific Meeting. It is an immersive 3 day event. Delegates were within five years of receiving their respective college fellowship, and came from a variety of countries including Australia, New Zealand, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Singapore, the UK and Ireland.
