The College of Anaesthesiologists of Ireland condemns the invasion of Ukraine by the Russian Federation and stands in solidarity with the Ukrainian people at this most difficult time. We are deeply worried about the consequences of the war for Ukrainian people and the doctors, health and social care professionals providing care to them.

Many of us are considering how best we can offer support. We suggest that it is important that we are follow the advice of the experts to ensure that our efforts are genuinely useful. The Irish Emergency Alliance (see below)  is responding to the crisis through local partners in Ukraine and the neighbouring countries of Poland, Hungary, Romania and Slovakia to help those who have fled the conflict by providing food, shelter, blankets, medical supplies and emotional support.

Those who wish to contribute financially may donate to appropriate organisations such as:

Finally, we thank the many members of the wider College community who have been working quietly but effectively over recent weeks to respond to this brutal invasion.

This is a moment of crisis but it is also a moment of solidarity.

The College of Anaesthesiologists of Ireland stands with the people of Ukraine.

Yours sincerely
