Are you interested in becoming a Lead Anaesthesiology Trainee (LAT)?

Posted by rkilcoyne@coa.ie

The Lead Anaesthesiology Trainee (LAT) role is one which is seen by the CAI as a professional development role. It is an opportunity for the trainee to develop leadership skills and experience, as well as being a vital aspect of the communication link between the trainees and the CAI, and vice versa.  LATs are also expected to encourage open and honest feedback from Trainees on their training experiences and it is an ideal opportunity to take up a formal role in the College and put your management skills into action.

LATs are appointed every six months and are usually a senior trainee; however this is not absolutely necessary, and we recognise that many people now join the SAT scheme with a wealth of life experience.

The position of Lead Anaesthetic Trainee is still available in the following hospitals:

  • Cappagh Hospital
  • James Connolly Memorial Hospital
  • Coombe Women’s Hospital
  • Cork University Hospital
  • National Maternity Hospital, Holles Street
  • Mercy Hospital Cork
  • Midlands Regional Hospital, Mullingar
  • Royal Victoria Eye and Ear Hospital

If you are currently working in one of the hospitals listed above, which does not yet have a LAT, and you are interested in taking on the role, please contact Dr Tara Feeley at LAT@coa.ie before Friday 15th February 2019

If you are interested in representing Trainees in your hospital or know someone who is, please get in touch!
