Post Title: Fellow in Clinical Leadership and Medical Education

Directorate:       Training Unit

Reporting to:     Chief Executive Officer

Type of person: Post CST Fellow in Anaesthesia

Salary:               Commensurable with role of Post CST Fellow  

 

The College of Anaesthetists of Ireland is looking to appoint a Fellow in Leadership and Education. 

 

Duties and responsibilities:

 

This role will include providing leadership in the management of change in postgraduate training in anaesthesia by

·         supporting the implementation of the CAI’s new competency framework

·         supporting development of College examinations question banks and OSCE scenarios

·         working in collaboration with ASSERT

·         for a Fellowship to be awarded by the CAI the candidate must commit to and complete a postgraduate qualification in Leadership or Medical Education.

·         the role will have a clinical attachment

 

Responsibilities:  To collaborate with the CAI Training and Education Committee,  the Competency Framework Working Group  and the Examination Committee in the following activities:

management and development of Entrustable Professional Activities (EPAs) in anaesthesia

supporting the clinical sites (hospitals, departments, consultant anaesthetists, tutors and trainees) in the implementation of performance assessment

consultation with stakeholders in the development and implementation process 

provision of continuing professional development for consultants and trainees

work with the examination committee with the development of examination questions 

 

Experience and Qualifications

 

Essential 

 

Post CST Fellow of a College of Anaesthetists

Must enrol in a Postgraduate medical education, teaching, learning and assessment qualification or clinical leadership course

 Post Title: Clinical Lead for the Integrated Care Programme for Patient Flow

 

The role of Clinical Lead for the Integrated Care Programme for Patient Flow offers an exciting opportunity contribute to the movement towards integrated, co-ordinated person centred care through addressing key challenges to patient flow. The Clinical Lead will provide clinical leadership and expertise to the Integrated Care Programme for Patient Flow including existing and planned work streams, contributing to defining the scope of the programme and development of the agreed integrated care framework for whole system patient flow. The Integrated Programme for Patient Flow proposes to work collaboratively with key stakeholders including the DoH, HSE, the National Clinical and Integrated Care Programmes, Service providers and enabling functions to achieve this. The Programme is sponsored by the National Clinical Advisor for Acute Hospitals and the National Clinical Advisor for Primary Care and the Executive Chair is the Chief Officer, Community Health Organisation 6.

 

The Integrated Care Programme for Patient Flow is one of five interdependent Integated Care Programmes being established  by the Clinical Strategy and Programmes Division of the HSE, to address the key health and social care challenges facing our society, in a strategic, population based and person centred manner. The Integrated Care Programme for Patient Flow, aligns with Future Health Strategic Framework for Reform of the Health Service 2012- 2015 (DoH, 2012) “to create a new integrated model of care that treats patients at the lowest level of complexity that is safe, timely, efficient and as close to home as possible”.

Closing date for applications is by close of business on Monday 3rd April. It is intended to hold skill match meetings on the week commencing 24th April.
