With the endorsement of our College, the European Society of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care, the European Board of Anaesthesiology, and the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, the European Journal of Anaesthesiology has this week published a Consensus Statement on the meaning, value, and utility of Training Programme outcomes, with specific reference to anaesthesiology. The HSE National Policy and Procedure for Safe Surgery has been updated in 2022. An eLearning module has been developed to support this policy, highlighting the importance of respecting the five stages of safe surgery, including the checklist process. This e-learning module encourages all staff working within the operating department to play their part and ensure that safe surgery guidelines are followed by all team members in order to deliver safe, quality care to patients.
